About the Artist
"I constantly experiment with limited palettes, tones and textures and especially love the physical properties of paint - the brushes, the smell of turpentine, the touch of linen and the whole painting process."
My paintings are mostly about small moments and the people that get in the middle of it all. I work from memory and from sketches gathered during walks.
I constantly experiment with limited palettes, tones and textures and especially love the tactile properties of oil paint - the brushes, the smell of turpentine, the touch of linen and the whole painting process.
In my early years, I trained with a professional artist for a year, attended the Minnesota School of Art and Design and eventually earned a degree from the University of Minnesota. Leading up to my career as a professional painter, I had been a creative director in the corporate world and owned a design studio specializing in the illustration of product concepts.
Some of my favorite artists include Moses Soyer, Maurice Utrillo, Charles Woodbury, Walter Farndon and the artists of the Bloomsbury group. Their work is still relevant and a continuing inspiration.
My artistic memberships include the Providence Art Club , The Copley Society of Art in Boston and the Art League of Rhode Island.
I am currently represented by a number of New England galleries.
